Anderson's move to Man City is not a distraction, says Tuchel

Thomas Tuchel insists Elliot Anderson's transfer to Manchester City has not caused any distractions in the England camp at the World Cup.

City agreed a 116m deal to sign the midfielder from Nottingham Forest, making hin the most expensive British player of all time.

"We had no distractions, no medical before the match," said Tuchel.

"All the focus was on his recovery and getting him available for training.

"The focus was on training and travelling with us. No distractions from the main topic, which is clearly the match tomorrow [Panama on Saturday].

"We want to win the match, win the group. We need Elliot in the right mindset.

"The reality is that transfers are going on in world football while we are playing. Big transfers take a lot of time.

"We know that things are going on behind the scenes. We will facilitate that transfer but after the match, not before."

Keane: A great move for Anderson

Your Site' Roy Keane on ITV on Elliot Anderson's move to Manchester City happening during England's World Cup campaign:

"I can be distracting. If the player can get it sorted within the next 24 hours, at least it's gone and he can focus on England matches. There are pluses and minuses to it.

"It's a great move for him, he's had a good start last year or two and a great start to the tournament. The England manager said if transfers can happen during the World Cup and it doesn't hamper with the training preparations, then he will give it the thumbs up."
